Michelle Bergin McLoughlin
Michelle comes from a family of Irish dancers. Her parents, Mike & Vivienne Bergin, are both dance teachers and adjudicators. Achievements during her competitive dancing years include winning the Mid Atlantic Oireachtas and placing 2nd in the North American Nationals. Michelle was dancing at a feis when she was first introduced to a woman playing the music for her competition- Maureen Glynn. Maureen would teach Michelle how to play Irish music. Michelle has played piano for the Irish Dance National Championships for the past 15 years. In those years, she has also played for Oireachtas championships in regions throughout the U.S. and Canada, and at the World Irish Dance Championships in Ireland, and the Great Britain Championships in England. Michelle obtained her T.C.R.G. in 1998. She toured North America performing a lead role as fiddler in 'Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance', and also performed in the Las Vegas production of the show. She has played with groups such as Cherish the Ladies and Rhythm of the Dance. Her music has allowed her to travel to 49 states, including a tour of Alaska. Highlights include playing at Carnegie Hall in New York, The Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, The Fox Theatre in Detroit, and performing for former president, George Bush.
